XI Oregon Binational Health Week
1 - 16 October 2011
BHW is one of the largest mobilization efforts of federal and state government agencies, community-based organizations and volunteers in the Americas to improve the health and well being of the underserved Latino population living in the United States. It encompasses an annual weeklong series of health-promotion and health-education activities that include workshops, academic forums, health insurance referrals, and medical screenings.
Last year an estimated 5,885 activities were held benefiting 549,361 people, involving the participation of 10,377 agencies and 22,905 volunteers led by 114 consulates working together with 140 planning committees. In addition, millions of people received education on health issues through the media. Also, four national campaigns were implemented with the aim of increasing the Latino population’s awareness of Autism, Obesity and Diabetes, HIV/AIDS and Emergency Preparedness.
In Oregon over 400,000 people were reached out through the mass media and more than 1000 attended the Last year’s events organized throughout Multnomah and Washington counties. Over 25 agencies participated in the planning and development of the events including Tuality Health Care, Providence Health & Services, Oregon Health and Science University, Cascade Aids Project, Hacienda CDC and the support of the Departments of Health of Multnomah County and the Oregon Department of Human Services. Through their support near 300 health screenings were provided free of cost to the Latino Community.
The Oregon Binational Health Week Organizing Committee hopes to be very successful and therefore we are looking for sponsors to cover such costs as advertising, banners and signs, health screening supplies, immunizations, printing of educational materials, incentives, travel costs for speakers, and food and water for the hundreds of staff and volunteers that will be providing the services.
We welcome any support that you can provide us. In exchange, your business/organization will receive sponsorship status with the privilege of display of company/organization logo on many of the advertising on flyers and other printed materials and an important exposure to hispanic media. Please refer to our list of sponsorship opportunities for further information.
We look forward to your support and commitment with the wellbeing of our community.
